Master Study
The Master study requires a Bachelor degree. Additionally we recommend the applicant to do 26 weeks of practical work in an architecture office, to get a widespread knowledge in all disciplines of architecture
related to the Bachelor degree.
The aim of the Master study is to give an advanced professional competence in all aspects of complex building projects, as well as an advanced professional, methodical and social competence. The graduates are able to do the highest level of independent architectural work.
The Master studies in architecture are aimed at methodical and creative research work and enables to act as an analytic reflecting generalist as well as a specialist in different tasks in architecture. The graduate is able to do independent, creative research as well as carrying out complex and specialized building projects. He is able to coordinate and integrate different disciplines which might be involved in a big, complex building project.
To ground the individual specialization of the students, they have to choose at least 30 credits from the following obligatory module topics: Planning and Design Design and Construction Construction and Technology History of Construction and Conservation Management and Controlling Drawing and Presentation
Final thesis
The final thesis is performed in the last semester and is part of the Master module with 30 credits. The final rating is based on an average module rate, defined in the module descriptions.

The studies last about 4 semester's incl. thesis. The students reach 120 credits and finish with the academic degree:Master of Arts (M.A.)
The Master degree of the University of Applied Sciences, TFH Berlin enables to start out postgraduate studies with a final dissertation for a doctors degree.
After getting experience in all disciplines of architecture as a Master graduate, he can apply for a membership in the architecture council of Germany which is necessary to run a self employed architecture office. And too, the requirements of the UIA (International Union of Architects) are complied with the possibility to work all over the world.
Fees
Both, the Bachelor- and Master program in architecture are consecutive studies and free of charge for German students except some fees for student affairs.
Language
The teaching and examination language in Bachelor and Master Courses is German. If the module was mainly taught in English this language could be used during examination. Written examinations and presentations can be arranged in English if the examiner and examinee agree.
